I have the bios on the z97-a usb 3.1 updated to the most current 2801 revision which was released in 2015. after the windows creator update iv been having nothing but issues which i think is from out of date mother board bios . i’m getting a cold boot bsod every day when i turn the computer on then it operates fine .. 2. rename the bios file and save it to root folder on the usb storage device. download the “bios renamer for usb bios flashback and crashfree bios 2” tool, which you’ll find in the “bios-utilities” section of your motherboard’s support page.. After playing around with older bios and disabling/enabling meltdown and spectre protection using inspectre (with reboots in between - without them nothing changed) i can say that the new bios may not change much, but the combination of windows update and enabled spectre protection does..
